Physical Versus Spirit:

   Science:
The scientific community tells us that everything thought of as physical is not physical at all -- that everything is energy -- that energy is controlled by consciousness -- that what consciousness is, where it is, and how it functions is still a mystery.   This leaves the conservative fundamentalist Christians with this problem:
How can a human being be a physical body when physical matter does not exist --when there is only energy?

   Religion:
Let's look at the Biblical passages that make reference to the distinction between the Earthy physical form such as a human body and the non-physical form referred to as  "spirit" or "breath of life."   In the King James version, "Breath of life" appears in 4 verses,  "Breath" appears in 42 verses, and "Spirit" appears in 456 verses.   (Total referenced = 502 references)  You might note that in examining the various translations of Ecclesiastes 11:5,  one version translated the original text as "Spirit" and another translates that same original text as "Breath of life."  Here are some of the more relevant passages:

Genesis 2:7                                                                                      Genesis 2:7   ...

"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."

Clearly states that life as a human being begins at first breath.

Job 33:4                                                                                                     Job 33:4    ...

"The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty has given me life."

Reinforces the Genesis 7:2 statement that breath is the place where God acknowledges His creation as being alive.

John 3:13,  KJV                                                                                                     John 3:13    ...

"And no one hath ascended into heaven, but he that [has not first] descended out of heaven, [even] the Son of man, who is [now] in heaven.

This passage indicates that human beings are NOT physical bodies, but  that humans are non-physical beings who existed prior to conception and prior to birth into the physical world -- that humans are non-physical beings who came to Earth from some other realm of reality.   The logical implication gathered from this passage  is that we existed prior to conception and prior to our birth into the physical world.   And considering that a being comes from "heaven" to Earth at least once,  there is no indication that one could, should, or does come only once.

Ezekiel 37:1-10                                                                        Ezekiel 37:1-10     ...

(5)    "Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you and you shall live…"

(6)    "And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live;"

(9)    "... Come from the four winds O breath and breathe into these slain that they may live"

(10)    "... and the breath came into them and they lived and stood up upon their feet…"

u    Reinforces the Genesis 7:2  and the Job 33:4 statement that breath is the place where God acknowledges His creation as being alive.

Ecclesiastes 11:5, RSV     (Revised Standard Version)   Ecclesiastes 11:5, RSV    ...

"As you do not know how the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of the woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.”

u    Clearly distinguishes between the body and the spirit, says that humans don’t know when the spirit enters the physical form, and, most significantly, states that humans do not know how God works.

First Corinthians 15:35-56                               First Corinthians 15:35-56     ...

These twenty-one passages contain a discussion of the distinction between physical and spiritual bodies, and contain among others these lines:
"There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body."
"O death, where [is] thy sting? O grave, where [is] thy victory?"

u    Although not clear or specific, these passages give a strong indication of the distinction between the physical body and the spirit that gives life to the physical body.

Ecclesiastes 12:7                                                            Ecclesiastes 12:7        ...

" Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.”

u    What is this spirit?  How does this relate to the forced motherhood war?

Job 27:3                                                                                  Ecclesiastes 12:7        ...

" All the while my breath [is] in me, and the spirit of God [is] in my nostrils;”

11:11                                                                                                            .Rev11:11.        ...

" And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet. . ."

James 2:26                                                                                            .Jam2:26.                ...

" For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."

John 6:63                                                                                                         . John5:63 .             ...

" It is the spirit that quickens; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, [they] are spirit, and [they] are life."

u    Similar to John1:1  this passage clearly emphasizes the importance of  words [i.e.  human thoughts and beliefs] .

Psalm 150:6                                                                                 .

" Let everything that has breath praise the lord."

2Cr 3:6                                                                                                    .2Cr3:6.                            ...

" Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.”

u    Even regarding language, the Bible tells us that life in the spirit [i.e. the intention] and not in the words themselves.   You might also ask how this passage affects the literal interpretation of the Christian Bible.   Also consider this:  A literal interpretation of the Bible is still an interpretation and that or any other interpretation is a function of the believer and not the Bible.

With about five-hundred, Biblical references to "breath" and "spirit," wouldn't you think it would be hard for our forced motherhood friends to ignore that much evidence in their own sacred Bible.   Apparently not.   Hypocrisy is live and well, just ask any anti-choice leader.    They've got to be the masters of hypocrisy. '  And either:  1)  they're Satan's agents, 2)  they've been duped by the Devil,  or 3)  they're the world's greatest fools.   (See: Mark 9:42  and    Revelation 22:18-19 below.)

In order to justify forcing women to become mothers, the anti-choice leaders must prove that life is the physical body, itself and that life is not in the spirit that inhabits the physical body?   For an in-depth look at this question. please go to the section titled:  Am I My Physical Body?°

What does the Christian Bible Tell Us About Truth?

John8:32                                                                           .John8:32.                                      ...

“Know the truth and the truth will set you free.”

u    To assist you in having a clearer understanding of what this passage means, you are invited to read a description of the opposite of the truth. '

2John 1:2

For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.

u    The Bible also tells us where to find the truth -- inside ourselves, and what's inside ourselves?  See the section below,  Man's Knowledge About God. `  Pay particular notice to this passage:     Luke 17:21. `

2John 1:4

I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

u    And who wants us to be truthful?   According to the Christian Bible, none other than God, himself.

2John 1:7

For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh.  This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Proverbs 29:18

"Where their is no vision, the people perish, but he that keeps the law, happy [is] he."

Like many other Biblical passages, there is much room here for interpretation.   The words, "Where there is no vision," can be interpreted as,   When a person blindly follow someone else's ideas and doesn't think for himself, he is living dead, he is dead in his mind.    The phrase "keeps the law" can be interpreted as learns, knows and lives by the truth.

Here's the passage paraphrased:   When a person blindly follow someone else's ideas and doesn't think for himself, he is living dead, he is dead in his mind, but when he learns, knows and lives by the truth, he is happy.

One could say that the above passage is a call to practice one's religion with both an open mind and an open heart.   That's one of the major tenants of  Universal Spirituality.²

.

The quotes below about the truth are not from scripture, but perhaps they should be:

Kahail Gibran

I have not found the truth.   I have found a truth

From the Opening line of The Reasonables' New-Vision Project:

Life is not what the public has been led to believe it is by those who claim to know.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood,
but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this world,
against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
Ephesians 6:12

Let's Get Literal:

Of Course the Christian Bible is the literal word of God.  It's the one and only book about religion that God ever wrote.   And above all, it must be followed word for word literally, without exception:

Deuteronomy 22:22

"If a man is found sleeping with another man's wife, both the man who slept with her and the woman must die. . . "

Leviticus 20:97

"Anyone who curses / dishonors father or mother must be put to death.   Such a person is guilty of a capital offense."

Exodus 21:17

"Anyone who curses / dishonors his father or mother must be put to death."

God must rate cursing parents as a very serious crime, a crime so bad, so heinous, so terrible that He put this this instruction in the Bible twice.   It must be really important to kill kids who get out of line.     against . . .  Ah. . . Against what?

Genesis 2:7

"The Lord God formed man from the dust of the Earth and into his nostrils, he breathed the breath of life, and man became a living being."

Pro-life Scriptural Support:

Here are the scriptures that the anti-abortion proponents use to, in their words, prove that life begins at conception:

Luke1:44                                                                                          Luke1:44                ...

“As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy”

u  This scripture is used in the Catholic Voter guide  as proof that abortion is murder.  For the full text of their proclamation, look in  the  Catholic Voter guide '  under the sub-title,  "Five Non-negotiable Issues"  for text labeled,  "Abortion."   One might also ask:  "In a country that claims to have a separation between religion and government, what is the Catholic church doing in telling their believers how to vote?

u    The reasoning they use is that movement of the fetus in the womb is proof that the physical body, itself, is life and that life is not in the spirit that inhabits the physical body.   They simply ignore all the Biblical scriptures in the section above: Physical (body)   Versus   Non-physical (Spirit)

u    They also to  ignore what their own Catholic Encyclopedia°   says about "What life is and when it begins."    And they don't bother to tell us how they can justify using Biblical scriptures as the basis for secular law.

u    Readers are invited to the web page titled Spiritual Awareness '     for a discussion of the relationship between Christian Biblical scripture and physical proof.   And for another perspective on when life begins, see these two web pages:   God's Conception Magic Act '    and  Life Begins When ???. '

Ecclesiastes 11:5, RSV                                              Ecclesiastes 11:5, RSV             ...

Warnings and Awareness:

This section quotes some of the Biblical passages that offer warnings about inappropriate behavior:

Mark 9:42                                                                                           Mark 9:42     ...

“. . . And whoever shall cause one of these little ones who believes in me to stumble, it is better for him that an ass’s millstone were hanged on his neck, and that he were thrown into the sea.”

u    Warns readers of the dire consequences of  intentionally deceiving others.

Deuteronomy 28:15-68

"But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee."

Verses sixteen through sixty eight of this chapter
get very specific and list
fifty two curses that
God shall place upon he who defies the lord.

u    If you find yourself facing these curses, you'd best start looking for  an ass's millstone.

Revelation 22:18-19, NIV                                                  Revelation 22:18-19     ...

"I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book.   And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book."

u    Warns readers of the dire consequences of preaching messages that are not in the Bible and the dire consequences of pretending that certain  biblical passages do not exist.   "The Rapture" story fit's this description of "preaching messages that are not in the Bible."

Matthew 6:5-6                                                                       Matthew6:5-6          ...

"And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites [are]: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues [houses of worship] and in the corners of the streets, [and on television] that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.   But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."

u    This passage chastises public prayer and instructs people to pray in private.   We wonder if school prayer and praying on TV could possibly be considered public prayer.

This passage tells us that school prayer is not about reaching God.  It's about mind-bending.   It's about promoting religiosity to children too young to know, or understand what's happening.   Remember the Communist slogan:  "Get the mind of the child and you've got the adult."  Well that technique is Christian in origin and started back in the beginning days of Roman Catholic public manipulation.
(See the section titled:
The Ten-letter Four-letter Word.)

 1 Corinthians 6:9-10:

"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?   Do not be deceived; neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor sexual perverts, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God."

Romans 14:12-13                                                  Romans 14 :12-13         ...

"So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.   Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in [his] brother's way."

u    Reinforces the warning in Mark 9:42 of the dire consequences of  intentionally deceiving others.

Proverbs 29:24  (paraphrased)

"He who partners with a thief hates his own soul.   He hears cursing and does not recognize it."

1 Corinthians 10:21                                        1 Corinthians 10:21             ...

"Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils."

u    This sounds like a rather clear " either/or" choice.

.

Job 27:4                                                                                                                      .

“My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit."

u    We wonder if harassment, vandalism, and arson° are no longer considered wicked.    If deceiving someone  by telling a lie in a serous sin, how can deceiving someone by withholding the truth° be a Christian act?     Are not lies of commission  and lies of omission sins of the equal magnitude?

.

Mark 10:19                                                                                      Mark 10:19      ...

"Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother."

u    This passage clearly condemns lying and committing fraud.°    It does not distinguish between lies of commission and lies of omission.

(A lie of ”Commission”  is intentionally deceiving someone by telling something that is not true.   A lie of “Omission” is intentionally deceiving someone by withholding vital information.

.

Romans 13:1-2                                                               Romans 13 :1-2        ...

"Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.   Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation."

u    Reinforces the warning in Mark 9:42 of the dire consequences of  intentionally deceiving others.

.

Matthew 25:40

"Verily I say unto you, In as much as ye have done [it] unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done [it] unto me"

u    Is it possible that there aren't really any enemies, but only fellow-god-beings with different points of view  living in human bodies that are slightly different from our own?

.

Matthew 7:15-16

"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but  inwardly they are ravening wolves.   Ye shall know them by their fruits.”

u    Here's a few more details about how to  Recognize a False Profit.°

(Matthew 7:6)

"Give not that which is holy onto the dogs, and cast not your pearls before swine. . ."

.

(Proverbs 30:5 &6)

5  --  "Every word of God is pure. . .
6  --  Do not add to his words."

.

Romans 14:5                                                                              Romans 14:5   ...

" . . . Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind."

u    Does this sound like God is telling us to use logic, reasoning, factual evidence, and  convincing arguments, or is God telling us to use threats, intimidation,  arson, violence, murder and government laws and force our ways onto others.

.

Romans 14:19                                                                              Romans 14:5   ...

" Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify** another."

u    How can anyone interpret this to mean that God is telling us to use threats, intimidation,  arson, violence, murder and government laws and force our ways onto others?

**  To edify means to enlighten, inform,
     educate, instruct, improve, and teach.

.

Gal5:22                                                                                                         .Gal5:22  .             ...

" But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,** gentleness, goodness, and faith."

u    If these are the fruits of God, what do you suppose are the fruits of the Devil?°

**  Longsuffering means being patient and enduring those things you'd prefer not to experience .

Ecclesiastes 3:19                                                  .Ecclesiastes 3:19.              ...

"For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all [is] vanity."

u    This Bible passage exposes still another fundamental Christian lie of omission.°   Here, the Bible, itself,  exposes, as a fraud, the fairytale about man being separate from nature.    The evidence indicates that humans have both an animal nature and a human nature --  that our human nature gives us an advantage over other biological life forms, but it in no way lessens our animal nature.   Readers are directed to  the quote from Chief Seattle

Mal 2:16

"For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for [one] covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously."

u    Is it possible that deception by lies of omission° could be considered treachery?   Perhaps it's time for our anti-abortion leaders to read Mark 9:42 in their own Christian Bible which they, themselves declare to be the word of God:

“And whoever shall cause one of these little ones who believes in me to stumble, it is better for him that an ass’s millstone were hanged on his neck, and that he were thrown into the sea.”

1 Corinthians 1:10  KJV

"Now I beseech you...that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment."

Man's Knowledge About God:

Ecclesiastes 11:5, RSV                                              Ecclesiastes 11:5, RSV             ...

Below are three additional translations of this verse.

Ecclesiastes 11:5, NLV

"God's ways are as hard to discern as the pathways of the wind, and as mysterious as a tiny baby being formed in a mother's womb."

Ecclesiastes 11:5, KJV

"As thou knowest not what [is] the way of the spirit, [nor] how the bones [do grow] in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all."

Ecclesiastes 11:5, NASB

"Just as you do not know the path of the wind and how bones {are formed} in the womb of the pregnant woman, so you do not know the activity of God who makes all things."

1 Corinthians 2:14

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned.

Ecclesiastes 3:11                                                              Ecclesiastes 3:11                ...

"He hath made every [thing] beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end."

u    The Bible again states that humans do not know how God works.

Genesis 1:20

". . . and birds that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven."

u    The word "firmament"  means "sky."

Hypocrisy and Passing Judgments on Others

John 8:7

"... He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone..."

Luke 6:31

"Do onto others as you would have them do onto you."

This passage is referred to as "The Golden Rule."  .   It's one of the most poignant messages in the entire Christian Bible.

Matthew 7:12

"So in everything, do onto others as you would have them do onto you, for this sums up the law and the prophets."

Because this message is in the bible twice, one could come to the conclusion that God thinks it's important.

Romans 14:14

“I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that [there is] nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him [it is] unclean.”

This passage reinforces the scriptural message of John 1:1  regarding the Universal Law of Thought.   This message says that we experience the world as we perceive it to be -- as we expect it to be.

Romans 14:20

“. . All things indeed [are] pure; but [it is] evil for that man who eateth with offence”

This passage also reinforces the scriptural message of John 1:1  regarding the Universal Law of Thought and one's perception of physical reality.

Romans 14:19

" Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify** another."

How can anyone interpret this to mean that God is telling us to use threats, intimidation,  violence, and government laws and force our ways onto others?

**  To edify means to enlighten, inform,
     educate, instruct, improve, and teach.

1 Corinthians 1:10  KJV

"Now I beseech you... that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment."

Matthew 7:3-5

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?   Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam [is] in thine own eye?   Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

One could conclude that this must be an important message because the same message is repeated  in Luke 6:41-2

Luke 6:41-2

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye?   Either how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.

Luke 6:37

Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven.

Matthew 22:37-39

"Jesus said unto him, Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.   This is the first and great commandment.   And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself.

Passages  Psalms 82:6   --  John 14:2,  --  Isaiah 41:23  --   and John 10:30-35  + 10:38  in the Christian Bible are  saying that you and I and everyone else are aspect of God.   Matthew 22:37 say love God with all your heart, which, if the Bible is correct, includes every human being regardless of race, gender, religion, life style, etc.   So go ahead, continue to "hate your neighbor as you hate yourself,"  for you do onto the least of your brothers, you do onto God and onto yourself.

Luke 23:34

"Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."

John 8:7

Let he among you who is without sin cast the first stone.

This passage is worth repeating.   It's one of the most poignant messages in the entire Christian Bible.   Stop for a moment and think about this message and what it actually means.   Open the Bible and read this entire parable about condemning another person.

Then ask yourself:   "How many mental stones have I thrown today?    Do I love my neighbor as myself?   Am I really a Christian or am I just pretending to appease my conscience and/or to impress my neighbors?

"Know the truth and the truth will set you free."   Hypocrisy doesn't cut the mustard any more.  You must also live the truth -- all of the truth  -- even when that truth exposes the false stories we have been accepting without question.

Man's Relationship to God:

The Fundamentalist Christians have turned Jesus into a Biblically prohibited golden idol and placed him on a peddle far above themselves.   Rather than acknowledging the teachings of Jesus as the pathway to "heaven,"  they have declared that Jesus, himself is that pathway.

They have also declared humans to be worthless, groveling incompetent morons who must prostrate themselves in the mud where they belong, then  pray to Jesus and beg God for favors.   The passages  listed below, tell us a very different story.

For you see, the kingdom of God is in your midst.

      The kingdom of heaven
is not in the external world.
      It's inside of you.

Mark 10:27

"...with God all things are possible."

John 10:17

Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

What you do onto the least of your brothers, you do onto me

u    This passage implies that ever time you interact with your human brothers and sisters you are also interacting with God.

Luke17:21                                                                   Luke 17:21                         ...

“Behold, the kingdom of God is within you."

u    What is the kingdom of God?  Those who dominate right-wing Christianity have been telling the public that God's kingdom is in heaven and that heaven is that place above the clouds where all the good Christians will go to be with Jesus after the Rapture.°

How does one deal with this type of inconsistency?    1)  be mindless and just continue riding along on the fairytale wagon.  2)  Consider the Bible to be wrong?   3)  Accept what the evidence indicates --  that those leading right-wing Christianity have been and still are intentionally deceiving and misleading their followers.  or 4)  Ignore the problem and focus on something that really matters like who won the yesterday's ballgame.

You might also note that According to the Christian Bible, Jesus never asked God for anything.   In the space of love, respect and gratitude, He merely stated his intention and said thank you.

His actions, along with the Biblical scriptures such as those quoted above, support the validity that humans are far more than worthless hunks of clay that must beg an angry, fickle, violent, vindictive God for favors.   These scripture also indicate that the Christian Bible is in harmony with the Three Universal Laws:

Law of Thought°

Law of Allowing°

Law of Intentional Creation°

Relating to Others:

Matthew 7:5 and  Luke 6:42

"Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye."

u    This is in the Bible twice.  Does that mean it's important?

John 8:7

"... He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone...  "

Matthew 22:39

"Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself. "

Lev 19:34

"the stranger that dwells with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shall love him as thyself;"

John 4:20

"If a man say, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?"

 Romans 12:19

"Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather leave room for God's rath:  for it is written,  Vengeance is mine; I will repay saith the Lord."

u    "Do onto others as you would have them do onto you."

u    "Judge not lest you be judged."

Sex, Marriage,  and Sin:

The fundamentalists make a big deal about sex being sinful and sex is for procreation only.   Here are some Biblical passages they seem to have missed.

Exodus 21

"And they sat down, and did eat and drink both of them together: for the damsel's father had said unto the man, Be content, I pray thee, and tarry all night, and let thine heart be merry."

Jdg 19:6

"And they sat down, and did eat and drink both of them together: for the damsel's father had said unto the man, Be content, I pray thee, and tarry all night, and let thine heart be merry."

Ecc 8:15

"Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry. . ."

u    Does the prior passage (Jdg 19:6) give us any indication of what was meant by be merry?   Do you suppose that merry and mary are in any way related?

The Song of Solomon.   Here are the first eight verses from chapter seven.   I’ve taken the liberty to use the word yoni where an ancient translator used the word navel.   One has to be extremely naive to think the original author was referring to his beloved’s navel and somehow just happened to completely forget her genitals.

¤  "How beautiful are thy feet with shoes, O prince's daughter! the joints of thy thighs [are] like jewels, the work of the hands of a cunning workman."

¤  "Thy yoni [is like] a round goblet, [which] wanteth not liquor."

¤  "Thy belly [is like] an heap of wheat set about with  lilies."

¤  "Thy two breasts [are] like two young roes [that are] twins."

¤  "Thy neck [is] as a tower of ivory; thine eyes [like] the fishpools in Heshbon, by the gate of Bathrabbim: thy nose [is] as the tower of Lebanon which looketh toward Damascus."

¤  "Thine head upon thee [is] like Carmel, and the hair of thine head like purple; the king [is] held in the galleries."

¤  "How fair and how pleasant art thou, O love, for delights!"

¤  "This thy stature is like to a palm tree, and thy breasts to clusters [of grapes]."

¤  "I said, I will go up to the palm tree, I will take hold of the boughs thereof: now also thy breasts shall be as clusters of the vine, and the smell of thy nose like apples;"

Romans 14:14                                                                         Romans14:14   ...

“I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that [there is] nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him [it is] unclean.”

Romans 14:20

“. . All things indeed [are] pure; but [it is] evil for that man who eateth with offence”

.

How do these passages relate to abortion?  -- to sex?  -- and to all those other activities that the no-choice people claim to be so distasteful.   Are you familiar with the psychological concept called Projection?°

God --  The Ultimate Weapon of Mass Destruction:

.

u    The God of the Christian Bible is hardly a role model for moral behavior.   He is angry, jealous, vindictive, rigid, fickle, hypocritical, unforgiving completely unfair, fundamentally evil, merciless, lacking in compassion, and has a history of committing genocide.   According to the Bible, the God of Christianity has ordered and/or condoned mass murder, slavery,  religious intolerance;  the torture of prisoners; the treating of women as property, and the killing of innocent babies.   He still, to this day,  requires the execution of non-virgin brides, witches, gays and any woman who commits adultery.  (Somehow He forgets to condemn the men involved in this heinous crime of lust.)  He also condemns to death any child who willfully disobeys and curses a parent.

He advocates genocide, sexism, racism, homophobia, xenophobia, and has condemned the entire human race to the status of "inherently evil" simply because a long-dead ancestor (Eve)  ate an apple from the wrong tree --  a tree which, by the way, He intentionally set right in front of her nose.   And if the Fundamentalist Christians are correct about God's Conception Magic Act, He's also the world's cruelest and most evil baby murderer.

Is this the same God who sent Jesus to Earth to Preach forgiveness?    Here's just a small samples of His behavior:

Deuteronomy 7:1-2:

"... the seven nations greater and mightier than thou; And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them."

Joshua 6:21:

"And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword."

Joshua 10:40-41:

"So Joshua smote all the country of the hills, and of the south, and of the vale, and of the springs, and all their kings: he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the LORD God of Israel commanded. And Joshua smote them from Kadesh-barnea even unto Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, even unto Gibeon."

Exodus 12:29-30:

"And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead."

u    And if you're concerned about "Family Values,"  you'll surely love this passage.

Joshua 7:20-25:

"...Achan answered Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel... And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor. And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones."

u    God  even commits the ultimate act of genocide.   Except for Noah and his seven family members, God murdered the entire human race.

Genesis 6:5-9:

"And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God."

u    The above-mentioned passages are only samples taken form an extensive criminal record.   For a more complete list of God's murderous rampages, readers are referred to the Religious Tollerance.org web site page:    http://www.religioustolerance.org/imm_bibl1.htm.°

.

And think about this for a moment:   The Biblical  passages list only what we know about God's "life of crime."     Imagine what he has done that we don't know about.

Matthew-23:8-9-10               Matthew-23:8-9-10

8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, [even] Christ; and all ye are brethren.
9 And call no [man] your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, [even] Christ.

Gen 4:19

And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one [was] Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.

Romans 1:1-3

"I Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle and separated onto the gospel of God...concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh."

u    The apostle, Paul denotes Jesus as "...made of the seed of David..."     The Gospel of Matthew connects David's lineage to Joseph, thus, if the Bible is literally correct, then Jesus had two fathers.   But, perhaps that's a good thing because that makes Him even more special.   And how can he be made of seed of David if he was born of a virgin mother.

.

Proverbs 14:18

“... the wise man is crowned with knowledge.”

.

2 Corinthians 3:6                                                       2 Corinthians 3:6            ...

"Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life."

u    What does this tell us about the literal interpretation of the Christian Bible?   One might also wonder,  "What is spirit?"

u    This is still another passage where the Bible refers to spirit giving life.   What is this "thing" called life°  that spirit keeps giving?

.

Exodus 35:2                                                                         Exodus 35:2           ...

"Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death."

u    The Fundamentalist Christian preachers preach on the Sabbath.   Preaching is their work.   Perhaps we really should interpret the Bible literally.

.

1 Timothy 6:7

"For we brought nothing into [this] world, [and it is] certain we can carry nothing out."

.

1 Timothy 6:10

"...the love of money is the root of all evil..."

.

1 John 3:17                                                      1 John 3:17

"If someone…sees a brother in need and refuses him compassion, how can the love of God remain in Him?"

While you saved one or two pregnant eggs today, you ignored hundreds of thousands of already born babies who recently starved to death or died from curable diseases.   And, you also know that another 10,000 will die tomorrow!

Where is your compassion?   Where is your love?   Where is your head?  Death several times that of the 9-11 world trade disaster is occurring every day, and you simply ignore it.   You also ignore your very own Bible.   Does that make any sense?   Your behavior makes your pro-life label a deceptive fairytale.

.

Proverbs 23:9

"Speak not into the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words."

.

Ecclesiastes1:18

"For in much wisdom [is] much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow."

u    But once one walks through the sorrow (the problems and  challenges we set ourselves up to experience)  there is great joy.

.

Ezekiel 37:1-10

"(5) Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you and you shall live…

(6) And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live;

(9) ... Come from the four winds O breath and breathe into these slain that they may live

(10) ... and the breath came into them and they lived and stood up upon their feet…"

u    Describes how God takes the dried bones of dead soldiers and with breath, causes them to live.

.

Matthew 5:28

"But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman
to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already
in his heart."

u    This passage is used to program their followers into believing even thinking about lust or anything considered bad is the same as actually doing it.   Did you ever wonder why they can't remember this concept (that thinking about something equals doing it) when they get on TV and beg for money?

.

Mark 10:11-12:

"And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his
wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against
her.   And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be
married to another, she committeth adultery."

u    This passage says that anyone who divorces and remarries is committing adultery.   How many anti-abortionist are ignoring this passage also?

Leviticus 20:10:

u    This passage says anyone who commits adultery should be put to death.    We wonder why those who interpret this book literally are ignoring these two passages.   You  might ask them,  "Which of your Anti-abortion friends shall we stone to death today?"        Exodus 21            ...

Exodus Chapter 21:

u    This chapter condones human slavery - - endorses capital punishment - - condemns to death anyone who strikes or curses a parent - - says its OK to sell your daughter into sexual slavery - - and gives her new owner permission to beat her with a stick as long as she recovers in a day or two.

Deuteronomy 21:18-21

u    This passage says that rebellious children should be put to death by stoning.

Leviticus 20:9

u    This passage repeats the directions in Deuteronomy 21:18-21 and Exodus Chapter 21.   Believers are again instructed to kill a child who curses his parents.   Because these instructions are stated three times, one might easily conclude that this must be a very important message.   We wonder why those who interpret this book literally are ignoring these three passages.

Matthew 6:1-4

u    Instructs them to do their good deeds and not tell anyone you’ve done them.

Isaiah 42:17

They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed, who trust in graven images, who say to molten images, You are gods.

Ephesians  5:21-33

"Give way to one another in obedience to Christ.  Wives should regard their husbands as they regard the Lord.   ...    so is a husband the head of the wife; and as the church submits to Christ, so should wives to their husbands in everything."    etc.

Leviticus 24:16-17

And whoever blasphemes the name of the LORD shall surely be put to death.   All the congregation shall certainly stone him, the stranger as well as him who is born in the land.    When he blasphemes the name of the LORD, he shall be put to death.   "Whoever kills any man shall surely be put to death.
