Most porno pictures consisted of poor quality, black and white images of women in their late twenties or in their thirties.   The women who posed for these pictures were much less than what one would call beautiful.   Women who admitted enjoying sex were considered sluts and whores.   Sexual shame and guilt was peddled as if sex outside of marriage in the missionary position, in the dark, lasting longer than three minutes was a terrible sin.  

As repressed as it was, the 1950's was incredible refreshing when compared to the sexual aptitudes of the late 1800's and early 1900's.   As an example, of sex this era, you're invited to read the article written in 1894, titled:  "Instructions and Advice for a Young Bride."
